ELVA HREIÐARSDÓTTIR

Elva Hreiðarsdóttir was born in Ólafsvík in 1964 and grew up there. She studied teaching at the Teachers University of Iceland, and graduated in 1989. Elva taught art for a few years before she went to the Iceland Academy of the Arts and graduated from the graphics department in 2000. In addition, Elva has attended a number of art courses in Iceland and abroad, mainly in painting and solar printing. Elva has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions both in Iceland and abroad.
Elva draws her subject matter from nature in general and often mixes materials from it into her visuals, whether she makes graphic plates or paintings. Elva lives in Reykjavík and has a studio in Korpúlfsstaðir. She teaches at the Art School in Reykjavík as well as working part of the year in Snæfellsnes.
