HILDUR HANNA ÁSMUNDSDÓTTIR
Visual Artist
Hildur Hanna was born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. She has education in Dressmaking, Photography, Fine Art Painting and Ceramic. In addition, she has completed various studies, e.g., in painting and silver making. Hildur Hanna has participated in numerous art exhibitions in Iceland and is a member of SÍM, The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists and the Pottery Association.
The approach of Hildur Hanna to creating art is unconventional. She uses both painting and textiles to create connection between the two mediums on raw canvas. The struggle with the canvas can be very personal, depending on her state of mind at the time. When Hildur Hanna paints, she uses a rhythmic expression with the assistance of music. The scribbles in her artwork are expressions of wordless thoughts. In a complete opposition to the painting process, the textile works emerge in complete silence, where the stillness guides her journey into unknown territories. These contrasting approaches create tensions between her rough painting and the finesse of the textile which results in innovative and interesting artworks worth enjoying.
