Katrín Gísladóttir

Katrín Gísladóttir is born 1962 in Vienna. She started to work with clay in 1994 and works under the name Katra. She mostly works with clay, glass, iron and horse hair. She gets her inspiration from Icelandic nature and the Icelandic horse. This is portrayed through her textures and shapes. Katrín attended a variety of courses in Myndlistarskóli Reykjavíkur and in 2007 she went to New Mexico to study the art of Raku. She has showcased her art in Listasafn Árnesinga, participated in a design contest held by Orkuveita Reykjavíkur and put up a private showcase with her father, Gísli Sigurðsson artist.
